Two men charged over theft of Christmas presents

Two men have been charged over the theft of Christmas presents from a minibus in east London that was destined for a children's charity.

The alleged theft happened at Grove Green Road, in Leytonstone, at 16:30 GMT on Christmas Eve.

Anthony Ross, 20, of no fixed abode, and Tony Parfett, 43, of North Street, Plaistow, east London, were charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

They were due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court on Friday.

The Christmas presents - valued at £500 - were later were found hidden nearby and returned to the local church charity by police, where they were opened by children on Christmas Day.
