Police are investigating the "unexplained" death of a man at London's Dorchester hotel.

Officers were called to the five-star venue in Mayfair on Friday evening following reports that a man was unresponsive in one of the rooms.

Ambulance crews arrived but the man in his 40s - reportedly an Arab tourist - was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said two men were arrested in connection with the death and bailed to a date in June.

A spokesman said officers were in the process of informing next of kin and the death was being treated as unexplained.

A spokeswoman for The Dorchester said: "With regret we can confirm the death of a guest at the hotel.

"We are unable to provide any further details at this time as the matter is in the hands of the police.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased."

The Dorchester describes itself as "one of the world's most iconic hotels" and a favourite choice of celebrities, world leaders and royalty.
