Man arrested outside BBC's London office over petrol dousing
A man has been arrested after dousing himself with petrol outside the BBC's office in central London.
The man poured petrol over himself and was shouting outside BBC New Broadcasting House, in Portland Place at about 09:10 BST.
Police had been called to reports of a man threatening to set himself on fire. He was restrained by security guards.
A 36-year old man was arrested for public order offences and remains in custody.
Firefighters attended the scene, but there was no fire and no-one was injured.
Police shouted at a woman for trying to light her cigarette outside the building.
Two bags left at the location were being looked at by specialist officers and found to be non-suspicious. New Broadcasting House was not evacuated.
Thierry Henry and actors from the Entourage film were waiting in a van outside the building after police had cordoned off the area.
Cordons were removed by 12:15 BST.
