Three police officers were injured after missiles were thrown at them as they tried to break up an illegal rave in north-east London.

Riot police were called when about 500 people gathered for an unlicensed event in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, at about 21:45 BST on Saturday.

Scotland Yard said most people left but some barricaded themselves inside the building and threw objects at police.

The building was cleared at about 05:00 and four men were arrested.

One man was arrested for criminal damage, one for a public order offence and two for supplying a noxious substance.

They all remain in custody at an east London police station.

None of the injured PCs required hospital treatment.
