A man has pleaded guilty to raping and kidnapping an 81-year-old woman who he followed off a bus in south London.

Anthony Roberts, 41, was sitting next to his victim on the 155 route in Balham on 10 February.

He threatened her with a knife in Balham High Road and led her to a secluded area where he attacked her.

Roberts, of Holmbury Court, Tooting Bec, is due to be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on 28 April.

He left his partially naked victim to make her own way home, despite requiring hospital treatment.

He has pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of kidnap.

Det Insp Melissa Laremore said he was a "very dangerous offender."

She also paid tribute to the victim's "extreme bravery" in helping police and providing them with detailed descriptions of Roberts and her ordeal.

"The trauma will undoubtedly stay with her, but I hope that she takes some comfort now that her attacker is off the streets."
