The bodies of two women have been found at a house in Manchester.

Jean Rothwell, 57, and daughter Rachel, 34, were discovered at the house on Holdgate Close, Hulme, on Tuesday night.

A 57-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned by detectives from Greater Manchester Police on suspicion of murder.

The women were found inside the end terrace house just before 1930 BST.

Neighbours said the mother and daughter had lived with a man at the address for more than 10 years.

The area has been sealed off while forensic teams search the scene and officers carry out inquiries in the area.

Post-mortem examinations are due to be carried out later.

Neighbours said that the women had recently moved back into the house, after spending some time away.
