Two charged with murder after stabbing in Manchester

Two men have been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death on a Manchester street.

Anthony Heaton, 38, of Windsor St, Gorton, and Mark Heaton, 41, of Sandringham Street, Gorton, have been charged with the murder of Martin Gallagher.

Mr Gallagher, 37, was killed by a single stab wound on Sandringham Street at about 2030 BST on 23 July.

Police said he was fatally injured during "a large-scale disturbance".

Eric Mayes, 58, of Sandringham Street, has been charged with two firearms offences in connection with the disturbance.

Two other men, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Two men, aged 49 and 52 and a 56-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender, have already been released on bail.
