More than 50 firefighters tackled a large fire at a row of terraced houses in Lancashire.

Six fire engines and a number of other specialist appliances were sent to the scene on Accrington Road, Burnley, on Wednesday evening.

A number of properties surrounding the area were evacuated while crews worked to douse the flames.

Firefighters had brought the blaze under control by 2100 BST but two crews remained at the scene damping down.

Several roads, including Old Accrington Road and Blannel Street, were closed by police during the incident.
