Metrolink services on the Altrincham and Eccles lines are being suspended over part of the weekend as engineering work is carried out.

The Altrincham line will stop operating later at 2100 BST on Saturday until 1100 BST on Sunday.

No trams will run on the Eccles and Altrincham lines on Sunday from 1600 BST until services start on Monday morning.

Replacement bus services will operate at 12 and 15 minute intervals.

A Metrolink spokesman said that the work involves testing a new passenger information system.

He said: "Passengers will see trams operating on the Altrincham and Eccles lines as these will be testing the system, however, these will not be in service.

"Passengers should buy their tickets from Metrolink ticket vending machines as normal, before boarding the replacement buses."
