Man threw cider bottle into pram in Rochdale

A cider bottle was thrown into a baby's pram by a man who was refused a cigarette in Greater Manchester.

Police said the attack happened outside a shop on Yorkshire Street in Rochdale on Saturday afternoon.

A man approached two women who were with the pram and asked for a cigarette, but when they said no he threw a bottle at the baby.

The baby cried and a passer-by called police, but when officers arrived the women and baby had left the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and particularly want to hear from either the two women with the baby or any passers-by who saw what happened.

A 52-year-old man has been charged with using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in connection with the attack.
