Nine chickens killed on allotment in Drolysden

Nine chickens have been killed in a "sickening" attack at an allotment in Greater Manchester.

Six birds were found dead on one of the plots in the Ashtree Allotments on Ash Road, Drolysden, and three were so badly injured they had to be put down.

One chicken survived and two cannot be traced following the break-in on Wednesday.

Describing it as "sickening", Pc Chris Hayden said the owner was "devastated" by the incident.

He added: "The plot holders spend a lot of money on their allotments and this latest break-in has caused a lot of distress.

"The chickens would have made a huge amount of noise when they were attacked so I am appealing to anyone who may have heard something or seen anything."
