And a 20-year-old woman was raped in nearby Wyre Street in the early hours of Monday, 11 October.
Greater Manchester Police arrested the 19-year-old man in Dale Street on Sunday night but said their investigation was "far from over".
Supt Julian Snowball said: "I would still urge anyone with information about either attack (or) the person responsible... to contact us.
"It is also important women still follow safety steps to keep themselves as safe as possible."
