Masked men robbed an elderly woman in her home in Greater Manchester.
The 81-year-old was in bed at home on Hartley Lane, Rochdale, late on Thursday night when three masked men broke in.
They smashed their way in through the back door, broke down an internal door and ransacked the lounge.
Police said the woman was threatened with a bat and pushed over onto the bed as the men demanded money before they made off with jewellery.
The offenders are described as three white men, two tall, one short, and all were wearing black with full face balaclavas.
'It disgusts me'
The woman suffered minor injuries to her hand and arm.
Police said the jewellery and watches stolen from her were of great sentimental value.
Det Con John Schofield, based at Rochdale CID, said: "It never fails to disgust me that someone can be so cowardly as to break into the home of one of the older members of our community and treat them like this.
"We are working hard to find those responsible and ask that anyone who saw something that night or knows anything about this to contact us."
Anyone who witnessed the robbery, which took place just after 2300 BST, is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
