Attempt murder charge over hit Pc Gary Marshall

A man has been charged with attempting to murder a police officer during a robbery in Greater Manchester.

Pc Gary Marshall was run over by a black BMW as a gang attempted to steal cash from a security van outside Partington Leisure Centre in October 2009.

He was left with serious injuries and has been unable to return to work.

Christopher Jones, 21, of no fixed abode, is due to appear before Preston magistrates later.

He faces charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Raymond Mallen, 27, of no fixed address and Christopher Shaw, 29, of Cross Street, Croston, Cheshire are also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

The pair have also been accused of producing cannabis. They are due to appear in court alongside Mr Jones.
