Fire forces care home to collapse in Hyde

More than 80 firefighters have been tackling a fire which spread through an empty care home for the elderly in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

Charlotte House in Albert Road partially collapsed as flames ripped through it in the early hours.

The property has been vacant for the past seven weeks. No-one was injured and crews managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

It is unclear at this stage how the fire started, a spokesman said.
