Lorry crashes into Manchester railway bridge


Two men were injured when a lorry crashed into a railway bridge in Manchester.

Police were called to reports of the crash on Briscoe Lane, Newton Heath, at about 0715 GMT.

The driver of the lorry was cut free by fire crews. The driver of a car, which had been travelling behind and collided with the vehicle, was also hurt.

Northern Rail said the line was closed for a short time but has now reopened. Briscoe Lane has been closed.

Both men were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
