Man arrested over Wigan fatal car crash

A man, 18, has been arrested after a teenage girl died when the car she was travelling in hit a tree in Wigan.

The 14-year-old, who was a front-seat passenger, suffered multiple injuries in the crash in School Lane, Haigh Hall, at about 0150 GMT.

The driver was unhurt but three passengers in the back of the Rover 25 suffered minor injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
