A rape allegation against Bolton Wanderers player Ivan Klasnic has been dropped.

The forward was first arrested in October after a 17-year-old reported she had been attacked in a Manchester city centre apartment.

The 30-year-old Croatian international was questioned and then released on bail. The Crown Prosecution Service has now decided to drop the case.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said he would face no further action.

Mr Klasnic had answered his bail on 1 November and it was extended until 1 February, then further extended until April.

A police spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape will face no further action."
