A Bolton bakery has created Prince William and Kate Middleton figures in icing to celebrate the royal wedding.

Greenhalgh's sugar-paste models will tour its Ormskirk, Manchester, Liverpool and Bolton shops ahead of the nuptials on Friday 29 April.

The company's Prince William measures 120cm (47in), taller than the Kate Middleton, which is 105cm (41in).

Production director David Smart said "our cake decorators couldn't resist making models of the happy couple."

Mr Smart said the company had decided to tour the figures after being inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton's visit to Lancashire.

"It seemed only fair that, like their real-life counterparts, they make an official visit around the North West," he said.
