Bolton arsonists destroy four vehicles

Arsonists have destroyed four cars within minutes of each other in Bolton, Greater Manchester.

The cars were set alight at about at about 0400 BST tin the Astley Bridge area, Greater Manchester Police said.

A Vauxhall Corsa on Blackburn Road, a Renault Clio and a green Rover on Broad O'Th' Lane and a Vauxhall Zafira on Drysdale View were all burnt out.

Investigations have begun. Police said there had been previous arson attacks in the area.

They said suspects had been questioned but no charges had been brought.

'Serious consequences'

Det Insp Andy Cunliffe said: "We are treating these fires as extremely serious offences.

"The consequences could have been very serious if these fires had spread or someone had been injured.

"It is no exaggeration to say that arson attacks can be deadly so whoever is responsible needs to be stopped immediately.

"The owners of the cars are understandably upset and angry and is it is important we find those behind these attacks to give the victims some sense of justice.
