Man injured when hit on M60 hard shoulder in Bury

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car on the M60 in Bury.

The 42-year-old got out of his Ford Puma on the hard shoulder at about 0300 BST and was hit by a driver, who failed to stop, police said.

The man is being treated for serious leg and pelvis injuries at Hope Hospital, Salford.

The incident happened on the anti-clockwise carriageway at junction 17 in Whitefield.

Greater Manchester Police appealed for witnesses and said officers do not yet have a description of the vehicle that struck the man.
