Saleswoman attacked during Salford test drive

A car saleswoman was attacked by a robber as she accompanied him on a test drive in Salford.

The man pulled over and punched and pulled the hair of the 47-year-old as she sat next to him in the Audi A4, which he then drove off.

The woman is a co-owner of the garage on Liverpool Road, Irlam, where the robber posed as a customer on Saturday.

He forced her out of the car as he approached Irlam fire station on Fairhills Road.

Police said the woman suffered facial injuries and was left shaken following the attack.

'Distinctive tattoo'

The car was later found abandoned at the Trafford Centre.

PC Mark Gingell said: "This was a violent attack that has left victim feeling very scared.

"The garage is a local family business and the victim should be able to carry out her daily work without any fear.

"The man had a very distinctive tattoo and I want to hear from anyone who might recognise him."

The robber was described as white, 6ft tall, of slim build, aged in his mid 20s with short brown hair and a black tattoo on the back of his left hand.
