A man has been treated in hospital after a gunman walked into a Greater Manchester pub and shot him twice in the leg.

The 23-year-old was found by police at the Broadway Inn on Broadway in Ordsall, Salford, at about 21:20 BST on Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital, where a police spokesman said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Ch Supt Kevin Mulligan said police "do not believe this is a random attack".

"People in Salford are bound to be concerned when they hear about what happened last night," he said.

"I would like to reassure people that we do not believe this is a random attack and we are not linking this to any other incidents.

"From what we know so far, it would appear to be targeted."

He added that extra officers would be on patrol in the area to "offer reassurance to residents and also to send out the message that anyone even considering using a firearm on our streets will have the full weight of the law brought upon them".

A forensic examination of the scene has been taking place and police have conducted house-to-house inquiries in the area.
