Bolton crash drink-driver jailed for passenger's death

A driver who drank twice the legal alcohol limit has been jailed for a crash which killed his passenger.

Carl Yates, 26, admitted causing the death of Jason Kenealy by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Bolton Crown Court sentenced Yates, of Baron Street, Darwen, to five years and four months in jail.

He was also disqualified from driving for six years for the crash which cost Mr Kenealy his life in June 2011.

Yates's Vauxhall Corsa VXR hit a wall and burst into flames after striking a Toyota Corolla Verso in Smithills, Bolton, while making a right turn.
