Man dies after Longsight bus stop collision

A man has died after a car lost control and collided with him at a bus stop in Manchester, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the stop near the junction of Stockport Road and Slade Lane in Longsight at 15:15 BST, following reports of a pedestrian being seriously injured.

The man, who police said was believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

A police spokesman said it was "believed the driver of a car lost control of the vehicle and collided with the man who was walking near a bus stop".

He added that Stockport Road had been closed while officers carried out an investigation and that motorists were advised to avoid the area.
