Man bailed after terrorism arrest in Horwich
A man arrested in Greater Manchester on suspicion of offences under the Terrorism Act has been bailed.
The 38-year-old, who was also arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images, was detained after a search of flats in Horwich, Bolton.
Six flats were evacuated after police found "suspicious substances" during the search.
Supt Steve Nibloe said police were in the "very early stages of what is likely to be a lengthy inquiry".
The man has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Supt Nibloe said: "Some items recovered have been sent off for examination and this will take some time.
"In the meantime, I want to reassure residents in Horwich that the safety of the public remains our top priority.
"We are still in the very early stages of what is likely to be a lengthy inquiry."
He added that he wanted to reiterate there was no indication that "anyone is in any immediate danger and there is no need for residents to be overly concerned".
