Man, 80, dies in crash on M66 in Greater Manchester
An 80-year-old man who died when his car veered off a motorway and hit a tree may have swerved to avoid the car in front, police have said.
The M66 was closed for about three hours near junction 2 near Bury, Greater Manchester, following the crash at 16:35 BST on Sunday.
The silver Daewoo Musso estate driver, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene.
A dark Vauxhall Astra was seen braking in front of him, police said.
PC Steve Beech appealed for the driver of that car or anyone with information to contact them.
