Murder arrests after man's drugs overdose in Salford

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in Salford who had suffered a suspected drugs overdose.

Police were called to Salford Royal hospital on Tuesday morning to reports the man had overdosed.

He died soon afterwards and a post-mortem examination showed he had suffered some internal injuries.

Two men, aged 41 and 47, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying drugs.

'Not to speculate'

Supt Stuart Barton, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "A post-mortem examination carried out yesterday discovered that this man had suffered from some unexplained internal injuries.

"As a result, a police investigation has been launched to ascertain how this man came to suffer these injuries and we will be providing support to his family at this difficult time for them.

"Anyone who has information they believe may assist our inquiries is asked to contact police.

"I would ask the community not to speculate on what they think may have happened and we will provide further updates as our investigation progresses."
