Two men have been charged after 30kg of cocaine, with an estimated value of £8.4m, was recovered from a vehicle in Cheshire.

Andrew Lee Hodson, 40, from Lancashire, and Phillipe Theodore Degeest, 24, from Belgium, were charged with supplying Class A drugs.

Mr Hodson, of Marsh House Lane, Darwen, and Mr Degreest, of Molenstraat, Limburg, have been remanded in custody.

They will appear before Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Greater Manchester Police said the drugs were discovered on Thursday 6 December after police stopped a man who was driving towards Manchester on the M6 in a Renault Kangoo van.

Shortly afterwards, officers from Cheshire Police stopped a lorry at the Lymm truck stop on the M56.
