Proposals for a £113m regeneration of an inner-city area of Manchester have taken a major step forward.

Manchester City Council has named Solutions 4 Brunswick as the preferred developer of the scheme to transform Brunswick near the Mancunian Way.

The proposals for the area include 500 new homes, the refurbishment of 650 council homes and a retail area as well as new road layouts.

If approved work on the scheme could start in the autumn, said the council.

Solutions 4 Brunswick, a consortium of four organisations - Equitix, Contour Home, Mears and Galliford Try - has been working on the plans for five years.

It is expected to submit planning applications in the next two months before final business plans are signed off by government.

Information open days for residents are planned on 17 January and 19 January at Medlock Primary School, Wadesdon Road, Brunswick.
