A global payment processing company is opening a new office in Manchester creating 200 jobs in the area.

WorldPay is relocating two of its London back office operations to Hardman Square, Spinningfields.

The company, which employs more than 3,000 workers, said it was in the process of a "transformation programme" after divesting from RBS in 2010.

A spokesman for the firm said it was already recruiting and hoped the office would be fully operational by May.

WorldPay's chief financial officer Aidan Connolly said it was "investing heavily in growing and maintaining" its market position.

"We have made significant progress in evolving our business since we became an independent company," he said.

"Investment in people is vital to our strategy going forward and Manchester has a key part to play in that."
