Man hurt in Chadderton by falling tree
A man has been knocked unconscious by a falling tree as winds of more than 60mph (100km/h) swept across Greater Manchester.
The man was struck by the tree outside Chadderton fire station. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were described as "not life-threatening".
Meanwhile a family fled their home in Ince, Wigan, after a tree hit the roof.
Three neighbouring homes were also evacuated after the 40ft (12m) tree blew down.
A building inspector has been called to inspect the extent of the damage.
A Met Office warning for the area has said winds could "become very gusty, particularly near heavy showers".
A spokesman for Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said the crews at Chadderton had been out on a call when the tree came down on the man.
