Oldham woman's death being treated as murder by police

The death of a Greater Manchester woman is being treated as murder, police have confirmed.

The body of a 30-year-old was discovered by police at an address on Bamford Street, Chadderton, Oldham shortly after 10:00 BST.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.

A murder investigation is under way and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Supt Denise Worth said: "I want to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is taking place and there are extra patrols in the area.

"At this stage there are not believed to be any immediate concerns for the safety of the community."
