Murderer Maurice Travis arrested after absconding in Manchester
A murderer who went on the run in Greater Manchester has been arrested.
Maurice Travis, 33, absconded in the Werneth area of Oldham on 26 March while he was on temporary licence.
Travis was jailed for life in 1999 after pleading guilty to the murder of 17-year-old Alan Averall at Stoke Heath Young Offenders' Institute in Shropshire.
Travis stabbed his victim three times with a knife during a row over a piece of chocolate cake.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said Travis was arrested earlier in the Denton area.
