The streets of Manchester are being draped in flowers and plants ahead of an outdoor gardening festival.

Floral bus stops, markets and colourful shop window displays will all feature in the Dig the City event.

Eighteen show gardens will be on display during the festival, which returns from 2-10 August.

TV gardener and presenter Rachel de Thame will judge the designs, which have been chosen from dozens of entries.

Anyone could submit a design for the festival, which will run from King Street to Manchester Cathedral.

There will also be children's activities, stalls and food.
