Manchester student rape: Police arrest 27-year-old man

A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old student was raped while walking home from a friend's house in Manchester.
The victim was attacked by a man who pushed her down an alleyway in Ladybarn Lane, Fallowfield on Friday night.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in custody.
Police said a student was also raped in the area on 25 October, but the attacks are not thought to be linked.
A 21-year-old man arrested in connection with the previous attack was bailed pending further inquiries.
Regarding Friday's incident, Det Insp Tanya Kitchen, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "We have made an arrest today but the investigation is very much ongoing and people will continue to see more police officers in the area in the coming days."
A police spokesman said the traumatised victim was being supported by specially-trained officers.
