Man held over two 'arson' attacks in Tonge Moor

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after two house fires in the same street.

Police are investigating what they believe to be deliberate fires at properties in Eldon Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton.

Police said a couple in their 80s escaped a fire on 2 March. Another couple escaped a second fire on Wednesday.

The man is being held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

The couple in their 80s were taken to hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation and are now safe and well, police said.
