The mother and child were "unharmed but obviously distressed", police said
A three-year-old child was threatened with a gun during a "terrifying" street robbery in Greater Manchester, police have said.
A man brandished the weapon at the toddler while demanding a handbag from the child's mother on Springfield Road, Sale, at about 09:15 GMT.
Police said the mother and child were "unharmed but obviously distressed".
The man was said to be tanned and of average height with green eyes and wearing a grey jumper and trousers.
Det Insp Helen Bell said police were taking the robbery "very seriously" and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
"The robbery happened during a busy time with lots of people around, so we are sure there will be people who can help us with this investigation," she said.
