Ryan Donnellan jailed for 'jealous' murder in Harpurhey

A man who stabbed a love rival to death in a "jealous rage" in Harpurhey has been jailed.

Steven Chadwick, 30, suffered knife wounds to the stomach, legs and arm in Carslake Road, Harpurhey, on 29 August last year.

He was taken to hospital but died four days later.

Ryan Donnellan 30, of Gunson Street, Manchester was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 25 years for murder at Manchester Crown Court.

Donnellan had been to the home of his former partner for a pre-arranged meeting after finding out she had begun a friendship with Mr Chadwick, police said.

He stabbed the 30-year-old several times in the street.

Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe, said: "Donnellan could not stand the thought that his ex-partner had moved on so he took the weapon from the kitchen, arranged to meet Steven outside the house, before taking his life in a jealous rage."

Mr Chadwick's family said: "We will miss him with all our heart and he will never be forgotten by all that knew and loved him."
