Two more people have been arrested over the murder of an 18-year-old student found dead at a beauty spot.

Ellen Higginbottom's body was found with multiple stab wounds at Orrell Water Park, Wigan early on Saturday.

She had been reported missing by her family on Friday.

A man and a woman, both 30 and from Wigan, are being held on suspicion of assisting an offender. It follows the arrest of a Wigan man, 47, and Preston man, 51, on suspicion of murder.

'Much loved'

Louise Tipping, the principal at Winstanley College where Ms Higginbottom studied, said: "Ellen was absolutely wonderful."

She added the student ambassador was "much loved" and "one of those people who lit up the room".

The student was reported missing after failing to return from college.

Friends said she was last seen at Orrell Water Park.

Police found her body at about 02:30 BST on Saturday during a search.
