A woman was killed and a man was left with life-threatening injuries in a crash in Manchester.
The crash, involving a Nissan Micra and VW Golf, happened on Hyde Road, near the junction with Bennett Street in Ardwick, on Saturday evening.
Police said the female passenger in the Micra died at the scene and the male driver was taken to hospital in a "life-threatening" condition.
The male driver of the Golf has been arrested.
Police said the man and woman who were in the grey Micra were in their 70s.
The man in black Golf was in aged in his 30s and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.
The road was closed for several hours while forensic and reconstruction work took place.
