A 34-year-old man has been arrested after shots were fired following a funeral in Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said the man suffered minor knife wounds in the incident at Gorton Cemetery on Thursday evening.

Police were called to the cemetery at about 19:00 BST after reports of gunshots.

They said they were aware of "several gatherings" in the area throughout the day.

Police found a man nearby on Waterhouse Road who had suffered minor knife wounds.

He was taken to hospital and later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The man was discharged from hospital and remanded in custody.

Det Insp Claire Moss said: "Whilst we currently have a man in custody I want to make it very clear that our investigation does not stop here.

"We are progressing a variety of forensic and CCTV opportunities to make sure that those responsible are brought to justice."
