A grandmother has appeared in court charged with concealment of birth after the remains of four babies were found on Merseyside.

Three babies were found at Bernadette Quirk's former home in Harlow Close, St Helens, last September.

Another was discovered in the grounds of a local cemetery shortly afterwards.

Ms Quirk, 55, now of Wigan, did not enter a plea at St Helens Magistrates' Court. She was bailed to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 13 September.
