Man seriously injured in Warrington street assault


A 39-year-old man is being treated for a serious head injury after being assaulted in Warrington.

Cheshire Police said the attack happened on Academy Way in the town centre in the early hours.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Warrington Hospital where he is currently in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested by police on suspicion of assault and remains in custody being questioned.

Academy Way was closed between the junction of Bridge Street and Bank Street to allow forensic examinations to take place.
