Boy, 16, held in north Liverpool firearms raids

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a series of raids in north Liverpool.

About 40 officers, backed by the force helicopter, swooped on six addresses in Fazakerley, Croxteth and Norris Green.

Merseyside Police executed the search warrants a few days after receiving the information from the public.

Ch Insp Mark Wiggins said it was vital that people continued to tip-off police about criminal behaviour within their communities.

Community support

"We've received some community information regarding drug-dealing, stolen property and potentially firearms being used and stored within premises in these areas," he said.

"We can't police these areas without the support of the community. We need the information from them because they live within those communities.

"The information we're getting is frequent, it's good quality information and the results that we're getting back are very positive in terms of seizures of drugs and other things."
