Murder probe after man shot in Liverpool house

Police have started a murder investigation after a man who was shot in Liverpool died from his injuries.

Asif Bashir was shot in the legs during a robbery at a house in Edinburgh Road, Kensington, on 6 August.

The 25-year-old, from Allerton, was taken to hospital and later discharged. But he was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary on Friday where he died.

A man, 21, has been charged with wounding with intent, robbery and possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Police said they are hunting two other men who fled after the robbery, in which jewellery was stolen.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Bashir died as a result of complications linked to his wounds which had prompted the murder investigation.
