Southport boys' school employee on pupil sex charges

A cover supervisor at a Merseyside boys' school has been charged with sex offences involving two pupils.

Hina Patel, 37, was working at Birkdale High School, Southport, when the allegations came to light.

The two charges of abusing her position of trust by sexual activity with a child relate to two boys who were under 18 at the time, police said.

Ms Patel of Sandilands Grove, Sefton, is due before North Sefton magistrates on 11 October.

A spokesman for Sefton Council said: "A member of staff was suspended as soon as these allegations arose and her fixed-term contract has now come to an end.

"We continue to co-operate with the police investigation."
