Woman dies after Royal Mail van crash in Bolton

A woman, believed to be in her 80s, has died after she was trapped underneath a Royal Mail van in Greater Manchester.

The elderly victim was knocked over in Vernon Street, Bolton, just after 0900 BST on Monday.

She was freed by firefighters and was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.

The road was closed for about three hours. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police.
