Man charged with double stabbing in St Helens

A 26-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a double stabbing in St Helens.

A 64-year-old man and 65-year-old woman were found stabbed at a house on Norton Grove in Thatto Heath on Tuesday.

They were taken to hospital for treatment and are said to be in a stable condition.

Jonathan James McCann, of Cowley Hill Lane, St Helens, was arrested at the scene. He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Merseyside Police said he was due to appear at St Helens' Magistrates Court later.
