Warning over car bonnet and light thefts in Liverpool
- Published
Police are stepping up patrols after a spate of thefts of car bonnets and headlamps from cars in Liverpool.
Officers said the 17 thefts happened in the Swanside, Page Moss and Roby areas of Huyton over recent weeks.
Inspector Paul Farrar said: "We have received a number of reports of this type of crime in recent weeks.
"Most of the thefts took place overnight and were targeted at Ford Fiestas." Residents are being urged to park in well-lit areas where possible.
Police are also asking vehicle owners who have a garage or driveway to use it, and if not to try not to park in a secluded area.
Drivers are also being encouraged to consider having a bonnet alarm fitted to their car.
